External wall insulation

Do you fall out of love with your home a little bit every winter? Are your heating bills high? Do you battle with condensation, damp and draughty rooms? If this sounds familiar then our layered external wall insulation system could transform your property.

The magic of external wall insulation

If you crave a warm and cosy home with no traces of damp or condensation and lower heating bills where you feel cocooned and protected from the elements, then external wall insulation could be the answer you’re looking for.

Once our advanced external wall insulation system has been fitted, your home will instantly feel warm and cozy and you’ll notice that your heating bills are lower. That’s because up to 40% of the heat in a building is lost through the walls and a Pioneer insulated house uses 30% less energy than it did before we started work. The Energy Saving Trust states that you can save up to £415 a year by having external wall insulation fitted.

There’s no need to worry about the exterior of your property as once the smooth crack-free render has been added, it will look brand new. We will also take care of every detail from the moving of pipes through to ensuring that architectural features are protected and enhanced. When the work is complete, it will feel as if you have a brand new home!

The finish on the house is fantastic and the team’s attention to detail is impressive. They are real perfectionists!” We are delighted. Our house looks amazing and it’s so warm in the winter. External wall insulation - how it's done

Our step-by-step guide to the fitting of our advanced external wall insulation system

  • The first thing we do is make sure the surface of your house is clean, dust and mould free.
  • Next we fit an aluminium frame to support the insulating board. It is affixed just above plinth level.
  • We fit the insulating boards made of EPS lightweight polystyrene, which we favour due to it’s durability and insulating properties. They are attached with glass reinforced plastic fixes.
  • Drip beads are situated between the insulation boards and the plinth, to divert rain water away from the foundations.
  • We add specialist corner beads to ensure beautiful straight lines around windows and doors.
  • The plinth is insulated with thinner boards to accommodate the drip beads.
  • Render is added along with a reinforcing mesh. This will make it hardwearing and ensure that cracks don’t appear in the future.
  • A final decorative coat of render is added in a colour of your choice. This is a breathable membrane, which means that damp won’t be a problem. Any stains or dirt marks can be removed with water and a brush.
